Michelle announced as UK’s 1st member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers
Moving house is widely accepted as one of the most stressful events people go through. Couple that with leaving a family home of many decades or with deteriorating health needs and this requires a helping hand.
That’s why Michelle (Director of The Yorkshire Move Manager) trained as a Senior Move Manager and set up her own business. After completing a rigorous accreditation programme, Michelle is proud to announce that she is the UK’s first member of the American based National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM).
Michelle offers a wide range of support and clients can choose as much or as little help as they require. Recent clients have been assisted with downsizing many years of possessions to an entire house move.
She said: ‘I have always worked in housing and really enjoy helping older people and being there to support them’.
‘When I realised that I could do both by helping them move home, I added to my experience and trained to become a Senior Move Manager. I think it’s important that people dealing with older adults are fully trained and part of a professional body.’
Michelle realised that as more people grow older and more adult children lead often hectic and busy lives or may live some distance from ageing parents (as is the case in her family), there is a need for high quality and trusted support to help fill the gap.
Michelle realised she could use her skills, experience and knowledge in housing to sensitively support older people in Yorkshire during what can be stressful and emotional time. She wanted to align her company with a trusted traders’ organisation and with no equivalent in the UK, she joined NASMM.
